This is an antique steak tenderiser. An English, beech treen kitchen mallet, dating to the high Victorian period, circa 1870.

Superb country kitchen mallet, ideal for chefs or butchers
The 1800s saw a rise in chop houses, with steaks grilled over charcoal
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order
Excellent dark English beech stocks present fine grain interest

Finished in beautiful caramel hues with wisps of medullary rays
