Item Description
A grand Bernard Rooke totem brutalist sculptural studio floor lamp. Signed and impressed, 'Rooke'. Circa 1970.
An excellent example with no damage. Five sculptural ceramic sections standing on a stepped plinth. The bayonet has been rewired and the lamp PAT tested. Fitted with a UK plug.
With the original lamp shade, which is in very good condition and shape.
Bernard Rooke studied painting and lithography at Ipswich School of Art during the mid fifties, before going on to study printmaking and ceramics at Goldsmiths College, London in 1959.
In 1960, he established a workshop in Forest Hill, London, with Alan Wallwork, whilst lecturing at Goldsmiths College and St. Mary's College, London University. In 1967 Rooke moved to Ipswich, where he opened the Bernard Rooke Gallery.
Rooke's works have been exhibited in the UK and abroad, and are held in collections such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Leicester Museum, and Trondheim Museum, Norway, to name but a few.
