Item Description
Beautiful vintage Japanese Shōwa lacquered & gold Suzuribako calligraphy chest. Circa early-mid 20th century.
The chest with four drawers having a gold maki‑e cloud and landscape scene over a dark matt lacquer ground, with Nashiji lacquer interior to the drawers.
The calligraphy drawer has the hardstone but is missing the water dropper. There is an opening where the water dropper would have been.
Overall in good condition. Light knocks to the edges with some rubbing in places, and a small loss to the upper back corner as shown.
This piece would also work fabulously as a jewellery chest.
