Item Description
An Arts & Crafts oak side table designed by William Birch for Liberty & Co. Circa 1903.
Literature: Daryl Bennett, 'Liberty Furniture 1875-1915'. Page 317, plate 8.70. Illustrating Birch’s sketch for this model for Liberty & Co. Circa 1903.
A very stylish oak side table of excellent proportions, with a hexagonal top, pierced apron and standing on six tapered legs. Showing an Anglo Japanese influence.
The table is in very good condition overall. There are some marks to the top, a dark area has an indentation. The wood has moved naturally with age, causing one leg to sit slightly out of line, and the top to show minor age related movement - typical of solid timber, rather than any structural fault. A small knock to one foot. The table is sturdy with no loose joints and free from any woodworm. There is no retail label.
Delivery to mainland England, Wales, and southern Scotland included.
