Item Description
Antique French archtop mirror, circa 1870, with etched gilt frame decorated with a burnished criss-cross design and a beaded sight edge. Where this mirror has been dusted for over 100 years and the gilding has thinned a little, there are hints of the terracotta bole beneath the gold leaf showing through, giving the gilding a gentle warmth. The original glass is in very good condition and gives an excellent reflection and this handsome mirror would make a very attractive overmantel.
