Item Description
Antique French gilt cushioned mirror, circa 1890, with beautifully made decoration. The outer frame has crossed-over ribbons wrapped around central beads and the inner frame is decorated with rows of beading. The cartouche has a central decoration of bagpipes and a horn, flanked by flowers and leaves. Each corner has an outset stepped geometric design with a little spray of leaves and buds resting above it and the frames are connected at each corner with a gilt band decorated with a pair of opposing husks. The original glass is bevelled in every section and has just a hint of age, giving an excellent reflection. This very beautiful mirror was bought at auction in St Cloud, on the edge of Paris, and will make a stunning overmantel.
