Item Description
This beautiful Louis XV period (1723-74) French margin mirror has a very delicate giltwood frame. The outer frame is carved with an alternating half lozenge and fanned acanthus leaf design and the inner frame with linked burnished lozenges. The two frames are connected at each corner with a decorative, open, scrolling design of acanthus leaves, stems and flowers. The original mercury glass is bevelled in every section, has minimal age, gives an excellent reflection and sparkes beautifully when it catches the light. This stunning mirror can be hung portrait (as photographed) or landscape, will be an excellent investment piece and originated in an important house in Paris.
