Item Description
The slightly taller proportions to this pretty 19th century wall mirror are such that it could easily be used floor standing as a dressing mirror. The tall gilded frame has been carefully cleaned highlighting the original gilded surface. The gilding has naturally faded and worn a little over the past century and more revealing the rich warm bole base coat creating a subtle contrast of faded gold and earthy tones of terracotta. A finely etched design of entwining leaves and flowers decorate the entire frame to this iconic French Louis Philippe mirror. A complete row of small gesso beads frame the later glass mirror plate.
Original wooden back boards.
