Item Description
A Georgian Oak and Elm dresser base of exceptional proportions boasting an impressive 7ft 6 in long featuring mahogany cross banding in contrast to the richly seasoned oak. This beautiful English dresser base was craftsman made from solid oak at least two centuries ago. It consists of two central cupboard doors with decorative scalloped shelves within, together with two small drawers above. The doors have raised arched panels with locks and keys. There are six further drawers, each one elm lined and retaining heavy gauge swan neck handles and escutcheons, the whole piece standing on a series of low bracket feet. The back has three solid elm timbers spanning the entire length of the whole piece. Wonderful rich colour and patina gathered from years of use and care. A truly stunning piece of English country house furniture circa 1820.
