Item Description
Lifesize plaster statue of 'Discobolus' the discus thrower by Myron. Stamped 'Louvre reproduction'. Superbly rendered and retaining patina.
Sculpted during the 2nd Century AD in Roman Italy, Discobolus is a copy of the Greek bronze original made around 500 BC. It was discovered at Hadrians villa, Tivoli. It is famous, among other things for having its head facing in the wrong way, Myrons original faced the discus.
