A wonderful piece of treen folk art. A Russian Kovsh or ladle. The Carved basswood boat shaped ladle has two doves outward facing, with geometric chip carving motifs, typical of work coming out of the Abramtsevo art and carpentry workshop, C.1880-1900 This was the home of the Russian arts and crafts revival movement. Established to retain the skills and knowledge of their traditional culture. Dimensions: H 37cm
