Presented here is an elegant antique table lamp attributed to French manufacturer Baccarat, perhaps originally born as a vase. Art Nouveau Baccarat vases & lamps, produced primarily between the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, are characterized by their fusion of Baccarat’s master glass & crystal craftsmanship with the movement`s focus on fluid, organic forms, resting on original gilt bronze (ormolu) bases. Although not signed, all these characteristics are present on this lamp. Most Baccarat antique pieces had only paper labels, the acid etched logo with a carafe and two glasses, often with "Baccarat France" text appearing from 1936 onwards.
The organic sculptural form, colour & delicate size make this lamp well proportioned for a side table, bedside, console, desk or sideboard. They would suit a range of interiors such as Antique, Art Deco, Traditional, Country, Hollywood Regency, or Contemporary.
The base presents a sinuous, hourglass silhouette crafted in rich green satin glass, softly diffusing light with a velvety, matte finish that reads both refined and tactile. The stem flows from a slender waisted profile into a gently rounded lower body. The generous orb of the main body tapers seamlessly to a petite baluster foot, which sits upon a finely cast ormolu base. The gilt-bronze mountings accentuate the lamp’s classicism and add a warm metallic contrast to the glass.
At the top the lamp is finished with the original antique brass polished neck leading to the new quality solid brass lamp holder with two removable brass rings to secure the lampshade in place.
The lamp is finished with a new cream fabric lampshade, this has adjustable internal arms to change the angle of the shade. This lampshade is included in the price.
Carries 1 standard small screw light bulb (E14) up to 60 Watts. At present fitted & photographed with a new LED 3.4 Watt dimmable Candle Clear shaped light bulb (equivalent of 40 Watts), included in the price.
This antique lamp is in very good condition for its age. The antique patina has been preserved. The glass base is all sound with no damages, chips or broken parts, only subtle rubbing & minor superficial marks inside & out, developed over the years. The metal surfaces in good condition with minor rubbing & superficial marks, adding character & depth, all in line with age & wear. The lampshade is new and in very good condition.
