An 18th-century Dutch Delft dish, decorated with a windmill in a landscape, surrounded by country fences under a cloudy sky in blue, yellow and manganese. The lip is adorned with a patterned frieze of scrolls and sprays of foliage. Bold brushwork is paired with vibrant colour to create dynamic movement while characterful architectural details in the windmill lend an evocative quality to the scene. The underside features a darker ivory glaze.
