Item Description
A pair of early 19th-century French provincial walnut armchairs, each with distinctive tapered legs and gracefully sweeping armrests finished with scrolls. The generously proportioned seats are upholstered in blue striped fabric, while the curved backs feature lyre-style splats held together by a rectangular motif. The wood displays a warm, attractive patina, with a few minor repairs that enhance its authenticity and history. Simple yet elegant, these restrained and refined country armchairs combine graceful lines with timeless provincial charm.
- Height: 88 cm
- Width: 62 cm
- Seat depth: 45 cm
- Good condition, with some wear throughout, commensurate with age and use. Original finish, cleaned and waxed. Historical repairs to top edges of backrests. Historical wormhole activity throughout, now inactive, with losses to an armrest scroll and one leg. Stable joints, with corner blocks present beneath one seat.
- Later upholstery in blue striped fabric, with light wear and a few very minor marks, cleaned.
