Item Description
A 17th-century Spanish pottery plate from Manises, decorated with a stylised central flower enclosed in concentric rings, framed by a frieze of scrolling foliage and a broad outer band, all set against a pale buff ground. The surface is finished in the rich, iridescent copper lustre for which Manises is renowned.
The design is executed in broad, fluid brushstrokes that lend a lively sense of movement to the decoration. Shallow in shape, the plate exemplifies the Hispano-Moresque tradition—an enduring fusion of Islamic and Gothic design, produced by Moorish potters in Valencia and prized across European courts. A rare decorative piece with vibrant patterns —a striking addition to a wall or shelf.
- Diameter: 18.5 cm
- Height: 5 cm
- Some wear commensurate with age. A hole to the underside for wall display.
