Item Description
A trio of French faience plates from Marseille, produced by the Manufacture Fauchier, c. 1760. Each plate is decorated on a bright, warm yellow ground, with a delicately shaped edge and fluted lip.
The decoration comprises finely painted sprays of roses, pansies and daisies, along with scattered foliage and small insects. The flowers are delicately modelled with light manganese outlines and soft tones of blue, orange and green, creating a refined and harmonious palette.
The distinctive yellow ground was invented by Joseph Fauchier, from the family that directed the renowned Fauchier manufacture in Marseille. In excellent condition, this is a rare and elegant trio of plates, with a light, airy decoration and warm palette of colours.
- Diameter: 25 cm (each)
- Height: 5 cm (each)
