Item Description
A very good late 18th century carved pine neo-classical chimneypiece. The frieze with a fielded panel featuring repeating swags and paterae, conforming tapering fielded panels to the pilasters with laurel leaf carving within and beneath corner blocks carved with circular rosettes and the unusual detail of bosses to the four corners, beneath a breakfront corniced shelf featuring tiers of carved dentil and vertical flutes. The aperture to the chimneypiece is carved with repeating boss and dart detail.
Overall condition of the chimneypiece is good, consistent with its age but requiring some restoration including a repair to an area of the top tier of the shelf shown in the close up image, this can be organised if required.
England, Late 18th Century
