Item Description
Set of 4 Early 20th Century Hat Makers Heads
Made from Papier Mache and supported by pine wooden blocks at the base, these highly unusual or even macabre hat makers forms have most certainly a spooky and distinctive look. Covered in pin holes and old weathered material. With old, measured stitch marks and even eye placements, they would have at one point helped a wig or hat maker measure and hold tailer items. Uncovered from a private collection in Wales earlier this month.
Size: H 12” x W 8” x D 6”
Origin: Wales
Date: Early 20th Century
Condition: Worn
With natural wear and tear due to their age and obvious use. One of the heads has a dent to the side of the neck which reveals the inside. With worn material that still holds strong the forms. Pin markers that cover most of the surface and stains as shown. All for item are strong in form and now loose in structure. They are hollow and light weight due to the material used.
