Mid-19th Century Folk Art Horn Carved Nun Figure  

A rare and unusual example of a mid-19th Century hand carved folk art figure of a Nun. Made from the tip of a horn and with hand painted detail as shown. This unusual piece of folk art reminded us of something more sinister, due to the close resemblance to the character in the film called “The Nun”.

 

Size in inches approx.: H 4.5” x W 2.25” x D 2”

Date: 1860 - 1880

Material: Horn

This item is over 100 years old and shows loss in detail specifically towards the base with chips and painted worn, a natural deep patination covers this object as show especially across the face.
