Item Description
A huge mid 19th century taxidermy python, in a natural coiled pose with head aloft.
Extremely well sculptured, with glass eyes and housed on its original ebonised wooden backing board.
The piece sits well on a table or the like and also is wall mountable with a large iron flat hook.
In overall good sturdy condition, with the odd elderly repair, the crown of its head seems to off lost its skin and has a period textile repair. The odd crack to the skin, and the tip of the tail has a spilt.
We have estimated the length of the snake to be approx 18ft, this would put the snake in the Burmese/Reticulated Species making it a Appendix II Cites for export out of the United Kingdom
A rare and highly unusual specimen, approx 80cm in diameter at widest point and 29cm in height.
