Danish CH106 Coffee Table Designed by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn.
The CH106 coffee table, designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1970, is part of his CH100 series, which also includes a second coffee table, a lounge chair, and three sofas — all sharing the same base design.
This table features a thick, square glass top resting on a sturdy frame made from bent flat steel. Two trestles are joined by crossbars that both stabilize the frame and support the glass. The clear top highlights the table’s structure, giving it a light and open look. The glass top is extremely heavy toughened glass and requires two people to lift.
Despite being made from solid materials, the table feels balanced and refined, thanks to the gentle curves of the steel and the rounded corners of the glass. The CH106 reflects Wegner’s approach to design — clean, functional, and distinct — and shows his willingness to explore materials beyond his signature woodwork.
Condition: In good used condition with minimal marks. There is a very small chip to one edge less that 1cm as shown in the last two photos. This table still retails for around £2800.
