Item Description
A charming pair of figural table salts, stamped Elkington Plate, likely Edwardian and in a late Victorian taste. Each piece is modelled as a kneeling putto on a textured rocky base, supporting a scalloped shell bowl.
The interiors retain a warm gilt wash, while the exteriors present a bright silvered finish that shows the soft, hand-finished modelling typical of quality electroplate from this period.
Well proportioned at approximately 13 cm high, these salts are decorative on the table yet practical for use with fine salt, condiments or a pinch of spices; they also make delightful small dishes for rings or mints.
The craftsmanship reads in the expressive faces, curled hair and crisp shell rims.
Condition: Good antique condition. Light surface wear, small marks and rubbing consistent with age and polishing. No repairs observed.
