Item Description
This is an exquisite antique Spanish santo of the crowned Madonna that dates from the early 19th century. It is quite remarkable these days to find a santo in its outstanding and original robes and accessories including the earrings, a solid silver crown with a halo as well as a silver bag. The figure is entirely hand carved from wood - except for the eyes that are made out of glass.The arms can be put in a desired position. The Madonna is dressed in a glorious silk dress embroidered with gold bullion thread and she wears a magnificent brocade cape with metallic trims and tassels. The statue is positioned on a terrestrial globe stand with a serpent. It measures about 69 x 45 x 30 cm or approximately 27.1 x 17.7 x 11.8 inches and it is exactly as I discovered it in Barcelona, Spain, with some signs of ageing that is understandable considering its age. This is a truly exceptional treasure of breathtaking beauty and meaning, for a stylish and unique interior. For the full condition please refer to the images!
