Item Description
This is an outstanding and extremely rare antique Italian santo from Sicily that dates from the late 18th century. Discovered recently this magnificent one of a kind treasure is entirely hand carved from wood except for its glass eyes. Created with great attention to detail and an exceptional artistic quality the santo is positioned on a hand carved wooden base. In its arms it holds a branch of a red sea coral. The santo measures about 98 x 35 x 24 cm or 38.5 x 13.7 x 9.4 inches. Just the figure without the stand is about 76 cm or 30 inches tall. This is a sacred and highly decorative antique treasure of unique beauty and meaning. It is in lovely antique condition with some signs of ageing which is understandable considering its age.
