Item Description
A set of 2 antique stained glass panels of Neoclassical figures. Dating to circa 1780, these stained glass panels have stood the test of time; each one showcases precision, detail and good quality craftsmanship.
Figures are all displayed in various poses and classical dress. We are also selling other similar window hangings.
The hoops allow the panels to be hung or mounted onto a wall or window as a decorative piece. This set are stunning features for a Neoclassical or ecclesiastical style property looking to keep period features.
ANTIQUE STAINED GLASS
Stained glass is made using a traditional method first recorded in the late 11th century. The process begins with creating a drawing of the design, first as a smaller scale version and then in full-size, known as a cartoon.
Next, solid pieces of coloured glass are cut before decorating textured glass with enamel paints and using lead or copper frames to hold the glass together. Due to their fragility, antique stained glass windows more than 100 years old are a brilliant find, offering a glimpse into styles and skills of times gone by.
