Item Description

A colourful arched reclaimed stained glass window panel made up of glass in a variety of green and blue shades. This stained glass window was sourced from the workshops of Finnigan and Shaw, third-generation family business of artist, Sax Shaw.

This small arched panel uses a range of pleasing blue and green coloured glass with varying textures to create a decorative abstract piece, likely once part of a larger display.

A superb mid-century modern feature window, it’s colours will look stunning in any setting when brought to life with natural daylight.

Sax Shaw (1916-2000)

Yorkshire-born watercolour, tapestry and stained glass artist, Sax Roland Shaw, studied at Huddersfield before moving permanently to Scotland where he attended Edinburgh College of Art.

During his career, Shaw became one of Britain’s most influential post-war stained glass artists. Examples of his work can be found in churches across Scotland including St Mary’s in Sidegate, East Lothian and Hyndland Parish Church, Glasgow.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Sax’s son, Christian Shaw, trained as a stained glass artist and took on the practice in 1984. He continued to create artistic works long after his father’s passing in the year 2000, before his children, Felicity Finnigan and Sax Shaw, took on the family business in 2021 under the trading name 'Finnigan and Shaw’.
