Item Description
A beautiful reclaimed lead birdbath attributed to the Bromsgrove Guild of Applied Arts.
Incorporating Victorian and Edwardian styles and surmounted by decorative spiralling snail shells, this birdbath has a simple yet elegant design for a classically styled traditional garden or courtyard.
The handcrafted details of the birds and various decorative features are enhanced by a desirable weathered finish with a rope twist edge, circular shallow dish and central riser for a fountain.
Bromsgrove Guild of Applied Arts (1898-1966)
Founded by Walter Gilbert based on the principles of The Arts and Crafts movement, the Bromsgrove Guild was known for employing highly skilled tradesmen and successfully securing the prestigious commission of the main gates of Buckingham Palace.
Other high profile commissions included a large commission to fit out part of the luxury liner,’ Lusitania’, and the famous Liver Birds on the Royal Sun Alliance Building, Liverpool.
