Item Description

Taken by 'Messrs R & W Kerry. Artists', each identity inscribed in pencil to the reverse.

Itinerant silhouettists and later photographers, R & W Kerry travelled across the country working as silhouettists between around 1835 and 1850, being familiar with, amongst other places, Weymouth, Leamington Spa, King's Lynn and Durham. They worked briefly in Lynn during August and September 1851, (according to a press advertisement of August that year) and are also recorded as photographers in the town in 1852. In 1853 they appear as calotype photographers back in Leamington Spa.

These seven family members are in their original, fancy pressed brass frames skillfully finished so as to appear bronze with parcel-gilt highlights.

Each 4 inches x 4 7/8 inches
