Throughout the 20th Century a huge array of styles appear and as by this time, it was easy to create large mirror plates, the design of them become bigger and bolder.
The use of industrial mirrors came about after the middle of the 20th Century, probably due in part to many large houses and industrial buildings being knocked down, replaced or re-purposed. People started to salvage the big industrial windows from the factories and incorporate them into their design schemes as a way to achieve something different, but also because they realised that the reason such huge windows had been used in commercial spaces was because of the amount of light that they would let through. The 1960's saw a marked change in house design and though we like to think that bringing the outdoors in is a new thing, this period actually pioneered this look in more modest houses.
