Industrial lighting became very popular in the latter half of the 20th Century all around the World. The beauty to be found in an old lamp that was used by a machinist, or adorned the eatings halls in factories and on shop floors produced a whole new appreciation of these early lamps and lights.
Many were created at a time when designs were hand drawn and not done on a computer and this level of detail in a production made item intended for commercial environments is something that still stands out today. The nature of their intended use meant they had to last and be able to endure the test of time and it is a testament to those designers and makers of their appeal today.
Industrial lighting comes in many forms from desk lamps to ceiling lights, pendants and wall lights. Lighting created for hospital theatre use, are also considered industrial and these are often very dramatic and large, creating a real talking and focal point in a room.
You will also find on the Decorative Collective 'illuminated' lighting and by this we mean neon lighting which often comes in the form of a sign. Like those used in American Stores in the mid 20th century and in bars and Clubs.
Another popular form of illuminated light is that used in the automotive industries, at petrol stations for example in the 1950/60s on their pumps and overhanging signs. Original neons are worth more than the contemporary ones and can be good investment pieces.
