19th C. Oil Portrait of a Spanish Noblewoman

Very fine portrait painting of a Spanish woman wearing a gorgeous lace bonnet. The woman is certainly from the nobility and at a period when Spain had just recovered from invasion by Napoleon and the French armies, and was also gradually losing its empire as its colonies were rebelling and establishing independence. She is also dressed in a jacket with a lace collar. Dating between 1820-1860, the painting is set in its original gilded frame and backed with metal supports. In good condition with two old patches on back of canvas. Measures 33" tall x 30" wide. (89 x 71 cms)

  • H: 84cm (33in)
  • W: 76cm (30in)

1820 - 1860
