Item Description
A very beautifully worked Diorama or Collage of Flowers in a Basket which was made in France probably as a 'reliquary' or as a wedding present. between 1820-1860.
Mounted on an oval shaped canvas covered stretcher, real dried leaves and flowers are intricately worked in with wicker basketwork, and then originally stabilized with lacquer.
The diorama might originally have been set into a picture frame behind glass, but makes a very beautiful if delicate wall hanging display as is.
In reasonably stable condition with imperfections from age.
