Item Description

This moulded plaster wall plaque and clock was designed in 1960 by the English artists Christopher and Robin Ironside from a commission by the Worshipful Company of Leathersellers, one of The City of London’s oldest guilds founded by Royal Charter in 1444, for their new Livery Hall (replacing the earlier hall destroyed during the Blitz). The plaque itself offers an allegorical motif to the mortality of man, represented by the figures of Death, a winged hourglass and a golden Cherub.
