Item Description
Late 19th century Gothic Revival oak two drawer desk. English. Circa 1880.
The desk is made in solid oak, having pierced quatrefoil decoration to the trestle ends with a lancet arched foot. The central stretcher with a quatrefoil design.
It has been sympathetically refinished by hand and waxed. The top still shows a few historic marks consistent with age and use. There is some slight movement to the front top with age (this is sturdy), and the left hand trestle end has slightly moved. Please refer to the photographs. The desk sits flat and sturdy.
The drawers, with gothic brass handles, open and close smoothly. There are some ink stains and signs of use to the interior spaces.
A stylish piece that could also be used for the hall or console.
59cm high from the floor to the underside of the front frieze.
