Item Description

Early 20th century Secessionist bentwood side table. Austrian. Circa 1905.

This model is frequently attributed to Josef Hoffmann. Notably, a dining room chair designed by Hoffmann for the Pukersdorf Sanatorium in Austria bears the same distinctive spherical elements positioned in an identical manner on either side of the legs.

As with the few examples I have handled in the past, this piece has a quartered square embossed mark to the underside in three places.

The circular table stands on four splayed legs, flanked by sphere mounts either side, all with their original dome head screws.

This example is in excellent condition, retaining the original stained finish, showing some very light signs of use. Lightly waxed, and sturdy with no woodworm. The table sits level.

Delivery included to the UK.
