Item Description
An Art Deco pale burr walnut coffee table by Harry & Lou Epstein. England. Circa 1930s.
A finely proportioned table of excellent quality. The highly figured book match burr walnut veneers to the top mirroring the pattern to the under tier precisely. The top's apron having scalloped profile, the corner uprights with crisp carved floral design that sweep down to 'C' scroll acanthus legs.
Overall in excellent condition. The legs retain the original finish, showing a few light marks, while the rest has been sympathetically refinished to achieve a soft, bleached effect to match. There are some light surface indentations to the tier, with a few similar marks to the top to note. The plinth edges show a few minor bumps and some gentle rounding to the corners, consistent with age and use.
The photographs really don’t do this piece justice - it is a superb example.
