Item Description

A rare example of early 20th-century American lighting, attributed to the Pittsburgh Lamp, Brass & Glass Co. Featuring a hand-riveted pyramidal shade with richly coloured slag glass panels and a silhouetted tree-and-mountain overlay, The perforated base with casting number “154” and patinated finish completes this authentic Arts & Crafts-era piece. United States (c. 1915–1925)

The lamp retains its original four-socket cluster, cast with the raised lettering “PAT APLD FOR”, and fitted with later period pull-chain sockets. This configuration not only confirms its authenticity and early electric origin (circa 1915–1925), but also places it among the higher-end production models intended for affluent homes and public interiors.

The perforated base with its original green cover remains intact, and the underside reveals the raised casting number “154”, further supporting the Pittsburgh attribution. A receipt from its acquisition in New York in 1983 accompanies the lamp, which at the time was incorrectly attributed to Bradley & Hubbard — a common misidentification for unmarked scenic lamps of this style.

Beautifully aged with a rich patina, this piece is both a functional light source and a museum-quality decorative object, representative of the American Arts & Crafts movement at its finest.
