Item Description

Cherrywood 'Wine Tasting' Table from France-. Also known as a 'Vigneron' or 'Vendange' Table, it was constructed for use in either the wine cellar or the fields and vineyards- the romantic notion . based in fact, being that they were also used for lunching during the wine harvest.
This is a particularly beautiful example dating to the end of the 19th century with gorgeously coloured  fruitwood table top which has a lovely patina with a few ancient marks and small stains, - and also has intricately carved legs and a swivelling lyre shaped crutch.
Made in Bordeaux, France circa 1890-1920. The oval tabletop measures 50 x 37 inches x 29 high. In good condition with various werar and imperfections fom its age and usage.
