Item Description

An Original mid to late 19th Century Carved Wooden Fairground Horse made by Heyn of Germany for an Englisg Fairground ride.   The German company was producing wooden horses and animals for rides in Britain before the best known English makers-Savages of Kings Lynn,  Orton & Spooner of Burton-on-Tent and Andersons of Bristol had begun their respective productions.

The horse has original glass eyes and leather reins and is in old white paint and also with cut glass mirrors inset into the strapwork typical of the best horses made by Heyn.

The horse which is presently in our London flat , is in very good condition and measures 96 x 137 cms,  (38 x 54 ins,)  The horse also has its original brass handle for holding on while the ride is in motion..
