Item Description
Fine Pair of French 19th-Century Louis XVI Style Bergère Armchairs
A fine pair of 19th-century French Louis XVI style library/club bergère armchairs, recently reupholstered in a smart grey linen–cotton blend with a textured woven finish. Each chair features a high square back, closed sides and shaped scrolling arm supports, offering an exceptionally generous and comfortable seat. The backs, sides, armrests and loose seat cushions are all upholstered in the same fabric for a cohesive, tailored look. The beautifully carved solid walnut frames stand on elegant reeded, fluted front legs with swept rear supports. Both armchairs are in superb original structural condition with no repairs, retaining a lovely, untouched walnut colour and patina. Seat height 44 cm.
Elegant yet inviting, these Louis XVI style bergères are ideal as library or reading chairs and would bring a touch of French sophistication to a living room, bedroom or study. Found near Paris, they are a versatile and refined addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
