Item Description
Quality 19th-Century Victorian Figured Mahogany Breakfront 3-Door Library Bookcase
A fine quality 19th century Victorian period figured mahogany breakfront three door library bookcase, England, circa 1880.
The upper section has an ogee moulded cornice over three original arched glazed doors, opening to adjustable shelves, ideal for displaying books, porcelain, or other treasured pieces. Below, the base is fitted with panelled mahogany cupboard doors enclosing a combination of fitted mahogany drawers and adjustable shelves, all raised on an integral moulded plinth base. The top internal drawer is stamped “James Winter & Sons, 151, 153, 155 Wardour St, Soho, London”, confirming a respected London maker. The bookcase retains its original keys and fully working locks.
This piece comes apart into nine sections for ease of transport and installation. It is in lovely original condition, with a rich, deep mahogany colour, attractive figured grain and a warm patina that testify to its quality and age.
