Item Description
An antique carved wood stylised Bird sculpture, standing on original base.
May be Scandinavian or Nordic as purchased directly in Sweden.
It has obvious worn patches and paint loss, especially to the head area, as you would expect with a piece of this age, but it retains a lot of paint decor overall and is a charming piece, full of character.
The very old metal plates you can see on the body, tail and neck area are not, I think repairs, but were part of the original construction. Everything was clearly hand made, carved and worked. Even the nails that hold the feet onto the wood base.
Though standing well, with a little movement in the body when you pick it up as the legs are joined onto the body, so some natural movement there, this is clearly a delicate piece when it come to being sent to a client, so would require delivery by hand, or use of a professional packing / sending agent, or collecting in person in Sussex.
Dimensions: All approximate - Base 10.5" long x 5" wide. Bird is overall height (inc base) 21" to top of head x 26" wide.
