Item Description
A wonderfully emotive antique oil on canvas painting of a man at the piano dressed in a Clown's outfit by artist Herbert Johnson Harvey (1884-1928). Signed and dated 'H. Harvey 09' to lower right.
A particularly engaging piece, with the choice of clothing, the oversize sleeve and colouring thereof unmistakably eye catching. The face shown in half light, adds to the moodiness of this painting, where the subject seems completely engrossed in his playing.
Framed in an appropriately, though later, understated gilt wood frame which has a couple of imperceptible tiny nicks, it's smaller size making it even more intimate and beguiling.
