Item Description
An incredible early 20th‑century twin‑arm ceiling light. c.1900
Manufactured to a very high quality, originally gas‑fired and later sensitively converted for electricity. The cast‑brass frame carries a balanced pair of scrolling arms with leaf‑worked detailing, all retaining a warm, time‑earned patina to the original coppered finish.
Fitted with a matching pair of original Holophane ‘acorn’ shades - the classic prismatic form designed to throw a soft, even light while reducing glare. The proportions are typical of the gas‑to‑electric transition period: a central stem rising to a decorative ceiling rose, with the two drops sitting in symmetrical opposition. A practical, domestic scale makes it suitable for hallways, dining rooms or smaller commercial interiors.
Rewired to connect to mains.
