Item Description
Iconic pair of French industrial machinist’s lamps by Jean‑Louis Domecq (Jieldé), c.1950.
Designed for use on workshop machinery in demanding industrial environments, the Jieldé lamp was engineered for absolute simplicity, reliability and ease of repair. This example retains its original printed maker’s plate and the characteristic heavy‑duty toggle switch. The paint has been stripped back, leaving factory marks and natural tarnish visible across the metal, details that underline its authentic industrial character.
Highly versatile, the lamp can be mounted on a wall, ceiling or table. In Jieldé’s first brochure, Domecq introduced his pioneering joint system, in which electricity is carried through the articulated arms via an ingenious contact mechanism, removing the need for external wiring. At a time when poor insulation frequently caused wiring failures and workplace accidents, this innovation was genuinely ahead of its era. Priced as a pair.
Rewired to connect to mains.
