Oak Modernist Gordon Russell Desk Console
From the range designed by Dick Russell in 1934, we have this rather beautiful modernist console desk of 2 drawers in a lighter shade of English oak.
We have 2 drawers made with single plank fronts, solid drawer carcasses joined with hand-cut lap and through dovetails, finished with hand turned walnut knobs. The lines are good, never easy to design something “simple” looking - well done Dick! As you would expect the grains and tones are spot on from Russell.
The condition is good - the original walnut knobs, often lost or swapped out, are in place, we have light wear to the top and sides, nothing nasty or off-putting. We have carefully cleaned and very lightly waxed the piece and it is ready to place. Perfect for so many spaces and such a well executed design.
