Item Description

Original painting by Chloë Holt RCA FRSA. One of the youngest artists ever to be elected a member of the RCA. Winner of the 2012 Kyffin Williams Drawing Prize, Chloe also, in 2010 won the International Lorenzo il Magnifico prize by the Florence Biennale for works on paper.

“Within my garden at a moment when light moves fully through it, illuminating petals, stems and seed heads alike, so that structure and softness are equally revealed. The light seems to open the space outward, creating a feeling of continuity — as if the garden extends beyond itself, unfolding endlessly. What emerges is a sense of ultimate joy: not fleeting or ecstatic, but vast and sustaining, where growth, light and presence align and feel boundless.”

A luminous and expansive composition in which the garden is felt as movement rather than fixed form. Petals, stems and seed heads emerge and dissolve through layered gestures of paint, held in a shifting balance between structure and atmosphere.

A pale central passage opens the work, as if light has moved fully through the garden and now radiates outward. Around it, darker earth tones and fractured marks gather and disperse, creating depth and quiet energy. Subtle metallic passages catch the light, lending the surface a gentle internal glow.

What remains is not a fleeting moment, but a sustained sense of presence — where growth, light and continuity feel boundless.
