Item Description

Late 18th.c. oak armchair or lambing chair c.1790. High angled backrest featuring a lovely pointed ogee arch raised and fielded panel and shaped top rail. Shaped wings at the sides designed to protect the sitter from draughts. Sloping arms with rounded terminals, note the chamfered edges with shaped stops to the arm supports. Rope seat and loose cushion with a square of Persian carpet to one side and course woven cloth on the other. Raised and fielded panel to the front below the seat, set within a moulded surround. Front and rear stiles joined with low stretchers to the sides. Wear to the cushion, otherwise very good colour and condition, with some previous restorations. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
