Item Description
Patinated spelter figure of a woman titled 'Dignite' (Dignity) by the French sculptor Charles Théodore Perron (1862-1934) c.1910. A copy of the large stone original produced in 1906 which stood on the Avenue de la République in the Southern Paris commune of Montrouge. A full length figure of a woman dressed in modest clothing but with some notable allegorical detail. The olive branch of peace in her right hand, a large sword in its scabbard hangs on her left hip, on her head is a crown of laurel leaves signifying victory and crushed below her bare feet is the armoured gauntlet of a warrior. Titled 'Dignite' on the front of the base and signed by Perron in the cast at the side. Very well cast in spelter with an good bronze patinated finish. Excellent condition.
