Item Description

Antique Veramin carpets are widely recognized as among the most exceptional Persian workshop weavings, best known for their remarkable quality, fine crisp drawings, wide variety of rich vegetable-dyed colours, and a range of characteristic designs that set these carpets apart from those from the neighboring regions. Veramin carpets are among our personal favourites, as among the most unconventional, most charming examples of their type.

This 19th Century example boasts a less common ivory field and a simpler overall pattern in relation to its size, framed by a border of good proportions, rendered in a rare duck egg blue. Being an earlier rug, it has a charming naivety which lends great depth and character not typically found in carpets of its origin and period. With a fine weave, which explains the clarity of its drawing, the design in the central field is creatively repeated in different shapes, its vegetable-dyed colours having gracefully aged over the years, developing an attractive patina.

It is in very good practical condition for everyday use.

In comparison to other Veramins that we have had in the past, this is one of the most unique examples, with a timeless and understated elegance which would suit a wide variety of settings.
